So what makes ours different than the 'other guys?"
For our 'Hybrid' holsters, we start with hand selected Premium "A Grade" hides. Raised and Tanned here in the USA.
The backing(part against you) is 5-7 oz. cow hide, that has waxes and oils infused during the tanning process, which makes it more resistant to sweat. The inside(part against the firearm) is 1-2oz. pig hide, which in our opinion has better visual grain and is tougher for its thickness, yet easier on gun finishes.
Next the leather edges are hand beveled and hand burnished, to ensure a comfortable feeling against the skin and get ride of the "fuzzies" from cutting the hides and seal the edge.
Top leather in photo has been burnished, whereas the bottom has not.
All IWB hybrid's are then stitched on our heavy duty machine, to ensure consistant, tight stitches.
All Aces and Eights kydex holsters have a slight bevel at the mouth. This is to 'guide' your firearm into the holster. No need to 'help' your gun in or look to 'find' the opening. All while being done in a safe manner, as not to 'cover' yourself with the muzzle. Remember: Safety 1st.
The holster itself is made from .060" or .080" thick P1 Kydex. .060" is generally used for the 'inner' piece on dual color holsters, whereas .080" is used for the outer shell. Vacuum forming our holsters ensures a perfect fit with awesome detail. (The 'other guys' use a foam press for every holster they turn out.) Note: The only holster we foam press is "The Minimalist", due to the 'wrap around' feature.
The hardware we use is either: Stainless steel or Melanite finished. "Tool grade steel" clips, with 2 mounting holes or injection molded single point clips (depending on model).
